Starbucks Coffee

The first Starbucks opened in 1971 started in a single store in Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. From just a narrow storefront, Starbucks offered some of the world’s finest fresh-roasted whole bean coffees.

Howard Schultz (Starbucks chairman, president and chief executive officer) had a vision to bring the Italian coffeehouse tradition back to the United States. He wanted Starbucks to be a place for conversation and a sense of community, a third place between work and home.

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection.

Today, with more than 17,400 stores in 60 countries, Starbucks is the premier roaster and retailer of specialty coffee in the world.

Berjaya Starbucks Coffee Company Sdn Bhd operates Starbucks in Malaysia. It is a joint venture between Starbucks Coffee Company and Berjaya Group Berhad.

Since the first store opening in Kuala Lumpur on 17 December 1998, Starbucks have expanded to Sabah and Sarawak and surpassed the 140 stores milestone in January 2012.

Customers love coming back to Starbucks because they know they will receive friendly, attentive service and quality coffee recommendations. Starbucks ensure their baristas are of the most knowledgeable in the coffee industry by providing ongoing learning opportunities through their Coffee Master certification program.

Starbucks incorporate elements of the festivals in Malaysia as a way they greet their customers and decorate their stores to lift up the festive spirit. They constantly seek to surprise and delight their customers with innovative handcrafted beverages and menu items.

Starbucks is committed to offer the world’s finest coffee while enriching Malaysian’s lives one cup at a time.
